Empire Airlines grew out of Zimmerly Airlines, of Coeur dAlene, Idaho in March 1946. Empire was still flying their three Boeing 247s until March of 1948 when they upgraded to Douglas DC-3s. They flew mainly in Idaho serving Boise to Lewiston, Pocatello and Coeur dAlene. Routes were later expanded to Washington and Oregon. In the mid 1950s Empire was absorbed into West Coast Airlines.
